Taxation in DK

#1| 0

Hello guys,

I am relatively new to Denmark and don't speak Danish that well, so I hope for your help in English :)

I have moved to DK as I've got a full time job here some time ago. I also continue to play online poker and manage to win about 150-200k DKK per year. I know that online poker winnings are tax free here (if you play on licensed site), but I've never found any info on whether I should report those winnings in my skat årsopgørelse or not. If yes, under which category should I do it?

My main concern in this situation is that my total income (i.e. poker winnings + job salary) will eventually affect my tax rate.

Thanks in advance for any help!

You do not need to report any pokerwinnings to the tax authorities as the pokersites themselves are responsible for tax relations.

Good luck on the tables :-)

Hi Voda and welcome to the PN forum.

If you play from a DK licenced poker/casino/bookie site taxation is only a matter between the gaming company and DK authorities. Your winnings/cashouts is therefore already taxed and will not affect your personal income taxation. As such you don't need to inform any authorities about your winnings.

Don't have to be DK licenced to be taxfree, any EU-licens will do the job.

Just remember that you need to be able to prove where the money comes from and they can ask for proof for 3 - 5 years back. So each year you should make records proving where the money comes from and keep those records.
