Amerikaner i Danmark

#1| 0

I post some on twoplustwo and play msnl and hsnl cash games online and would like to play with some Danes either for fun or competitively.

Should I just keep browsing this forum until a see a game I can attend, and would a non-dane be welcome? Also I can read and understand Danish to an extent but am at a major loss when speaking it, would this be okay at a homegame?

Tak skal du have

Hi and welcome to Denmark! Hope you enjoy the Danish culture and Copenhagen.

One reason why people may hesitate about setting up home games is the fact that this is not technically legal in Denmark. I don't know where you are from in US, but I'm sure you know how it works overthere as well. It's pretty much the same here. Some people do it, but they usually keep low about it.

My suggestion would be to visit the local Casino Copenhagen (CC), that I'm sure you have seen when crossing the bridge from Amager to inner Copenhagen. That is the closest to you.
Otherwise, jump on the train to Malmø and go to the Casino Cosmopol. Imho a lot better than CC, but it will take you about an hour in total to get there. Some PokerNetters might join you for this trip though, and you'll have your new poker budddies right there.

And finally, Danes are usually pretty decent in English so your language shouldn't be a problem at all. I hope you find what you are looking for here, and once again, welcome to Denmark. :-)

@ Dlepz
Hey Man, and welcome..
I would'nt recomend Casino Copenhagen. But can warmly recomend Casino Cosmopol in Malmø. They have games ranging from 5-5 to 50-50, good service and nice suroundings. The trainjourney is 30 mins each way, but no problem. Try to google it for more info.
If you searching for danish homegames, just keep on following the forum. Theres is often 1-2 games and one of them is actually in Amager.
perhaps i'll see you there.

Hey and welcome,

I have a lot of coworkers from all over the world that i play with quite often, so therefore everyone speaks english at the games.

We play mostly NL200DKK, but the games do get a little crazy so you can walk away winning/loosing 1-4Kish...

You are welcome to join us, its hosted different places in CPH but throw me a PM if you are interested.

I think the trick is finding the right stakes.

If you want something similar to what you play online, I guess the casinos mentioned are obvious choices. The reasons Malmö casino is recommended are:
A: No tipping allowed. Danes are not used to tipping, however danish casinos are very keen on enforcing this costum - and not in the usual casual manner as in Vegas, but under threads of being blacklisted if you don't.
B: They offer lower stakes. I believe minimum in Copenhagen is 50/50 DKK blinds.

If you are looking for homegames, the ones announced in this forum are usually 1/2 DKK blinds. Which is nice for lowrollers like most of us :)

Regular private 5/10 or 10/20 games have been taking place in underground places i recent years. The places I have known have all shut down, but I imagine some obscure game is still going on somewhere.

@dl

I do not agree with pisfisk in the matter of homegames being legal or not.

Aswell I do not agree with him that it would be the reason why someone should keep quiet about there homegame.

Keep looking at PN and im sure youll find what your looking for.

And welcome btw :)

@kris_rem

I think the problem is, that for a home-game to be somewhat regular and have stakes interesting for someone playing NL1000$ online, it must be so organised that the police would bother to close it down. Like all the private poker clubs with cashgames.

A sporadic NL 200DKK game is definately more legal than a regular NL2000DKK game.

@dr

@ Kris_rem
Private cashgames er principielt ikke lovligt..

21-09-2010 23:17 #11| 0

22-09-2010 13:20 #13| 0

@lasse

@bloche
